Our History

1919. Sutter's starts making salt water taffy in southern Illinois. It's the same recipe we use today.
1939. Sutter's brings that taffy to the New York World's Fair and sells over a million boxes. That's the year the rest of the country found out about us.
Fair season, every year since. If you've had Sutter's, odds are somebody handed it to you at a fair — in the same box we've always used.
Today. Still made the old-fashioned way. No shortcuts. No substitutes. Still wrapped on the original machines.
Over a century in and we haven't changed a thing. We don't plan to.
